How long have you been in business?
Waldorf Metal and Alloys, Inc, DBA Carbide Recycling Co., has been in the scrap metal recycling business in the Detroit, Michigan area for over 30 years.
What is your primary product or service?
We specialize in the recycling of Tungsten Carbide hard scrap and grinding sludge. We also purchase high speed steel scrap, nickel, tungsten and cobalt alloys.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
While other scrap metal recyclers purchase ferrous and non-ferrous metals, we are focused with recycling high temp metals and alloys, specifically tungsten carbide scrap.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We have one single location, Walled Lake, Michigan which is located about 25 miles northwest of Detroit.

From the East or West, take Rt 96 to Exit 160, Beck Rd. Go north 2.8 miles to W. Maple Rd., turn right (East) and go 0.6 Miles to Best. Drive. Turn Left on Best Dr. and CRC will be on your right.
What type of payments do you accept?
We offer immediate payment after your scrap material has been received, inspected and weighed.
Which areas do you service?
We have trucks that pickup scrap metal in Michigan and Ohio at no charge with a minimum weight of 200 lbs. Depending on quantity and location, we can accept Freight Collect shipments (per our specific shipping instructions). We recommend USPS Flat Rate shipments for small quantities and will supply you with all necessary shipping instructions.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Carbide Recycling Co., aka CRC is a family business owned by Richard Waldorf, President and Sara Bernstein, Operations Manager. Our Purchasing Manager is Ms. Sandy Foss and another buyer is Ms. April Deslippe.
What are your hours of operation?
Our daily business hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. Deliveries should be previously scheduled.
